Ebony Gonzalez

egonzalez2@unm.eduEbony was born in El Paso Texas but was raised in Albuquerque New Mexico. Ebony is a member of the Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo tribe of Texas. Her passion for her people, ancestors, and culture drove her to pursue a degree in Native American Studies. Ebony started her educational journey at Centreral New Mexico Community College, where she received her first degree in Native American Studies. She then transferred to the University of New Mexico and received her Bachelors degree in Native American Studies. Ebony is currently a Masters student in the Native American Studies department where her research focuses on Indigeneity, Indigenous equality, and Indigenous soverignty. Although Ebony is new to the Mellon Initiative, she hopes to continue to teach and inspire students to further pursue the humanities.
